Utley no doubt. He can run, hit for power and average and plays up the middle. Howard, awesome hitter. But right now strikes out too much and not a good glove.
Wright great potential. But so-so power numbers, good glove. Only a blip on the screen because there is only one other all star 3rd baseman in the National league.
Miguel Cabrera is just as young as Wright and Reyes and years younger than Howard and Utley and is more accomplished than all 4 of them.
Great point about Miguel Cabrera. Players like Cabrera and even Atlanta's Jeff Francoeur are reasons I left "other" as a choice.
Keep those responses coming!
I will take Utley over Cabrera today for two reasons. Bats left, plays second. My choice at third is Cabrera over Wright anyday.
I take Buddy Hurlock
Buddy H for shortstop
How can you not consider Washington third baseman Ryan Zimmerman? He's 21 and basically went straight from college to the Majors last season, save for a handful of minor-league at-bats. Shame on you for leaving out this doubles machine with developing power, a consistent .300 stroke, and a plethora of Gold Glove waiting for him.
When Zimmerman is better than Wright and Cabrera then maybe he gets a sniff.
