Kyle Kendrick's line today against the White Sox: 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R/ER, 2 BB, 4 K. The Phillies will take that any day from their fifth starter.
Kendrick, clearly a ground-ball pitcher who gets contact more than strikeouts, showed some poise after allowing runs in each of the first three innings. He retired 10 of the final 14 batters he faced and got big double play grounders in the third and fourth. He also got a nice diving catch from right fielder Jayson Werth in the fifth with runners on first and second and two outs.

Kendrick indeed did a real nice job. I thought in the early innings he didn't get much help from the umpire either. Overall, he was rock solid all things considered.
Freddy who?
He did alot better than Freddy would have done. I have to say if this kid pitches like this on a consistant basis and the Phils play good defense behind him that is an exciting prospect. He's a rookie and will have his down times too but the powers that be made the right choice bypassing the pitchers at Triple A!
And hey it's a miracle.....Wes Helms hit a HR! Then he made an error in the field. Can you say "One shining moment!" and that's it.
PS is Barajas the new whipping boy(I mean boo boy)? It's really tough between him and Helms. Rod took the lead this afternoon.
By the way, the "50 cent edition" thing is kinda dumb
When I post comments, it signs my whole name. Other than that, great debut by Kendrick, but Comcast overplayed the dad-in-the-stands angle. We didn't need to see him after every pitch, which is about how often they showed him.
Come on, the "50 cent addition" is cool.
Kendrick reminds me a bit of John Maine. Anyone else see that?
this was a good game to attend. place went nuts for the grand slam. i do wish i caught it on TV though to see how good kendrick was pitching
Hey buddyboy, how about when you sign on annonymously - your name isn't written out then - as proof of your "50 cent" comment.
Buddy Hurlock - do you think you are th only person named Buddy? Well, then again, maybe you are. What did your parents have against you when you were born?
