Mar. 3 -- Day 19: LOPES HAS PROSTATE CANCER
Don't mean to distract from the awesome discussion going on below about Cole Hamels' contract situation (I'll offer my take later), but I want to divert your attention for a moment to first-base coach Davey Lopes, who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, the Phillies announced this morning. Lopes, 62, will undergo surgery later this month at a hospital in New Port Richey, Fla., a few miles from the spring-training complex in Clearwater. He's expecting a full recovery.
Here's hoping Lopes has a speedy recovery, and we see him on the coaching lines again soon.
1 comment:
Davey Lopes is a far better human being than Hamels.
