May 15 -- WAGNER RIPS METS

So, we'll take a momentary (just momentary, I promise) break from the Phillies to bring you this message from Billy Wagner:

Apparently, the outspoken Mets -- and erstwhile Phillies -- closer wasn't happy today after a 1-0 loss to the Nationals at Shea Stadium when a group of reporters approached him to talk about the game. Then, he realized why they were coming to him. Most of the other Mets players had left without talking to the media.

According to good friend Adam Rubin's blog on the New York Daily News' Web site, Wagner glanced at the area near Carlos Delgado's locker and said, "Someone tell me why the (expletive) you're talking to the closer. I didn't even play. They're over there, not being interviewed. ... I got it. They're gone. (Expletive) shocker."

For a while, I have heard whispers about potential chemistry issues in the Mets' clubhouse, and this seems to confirm those suspicions. While it's certainly a player's choice to talk to reporters after a game, Wagner essentially is wondering why several players are less accountable than others. Keep an eye on this situation. The Mets haven't started the season particularly well, and they can ill afford a fractured clubhouse.
