Oct. 1 -- IN-GAME: NO JACKET REQUIRED

BY SCOTT LAUBER

So, not only is Cole Hamels not wearing long sleeves, but after he reached base on a sacrifice bunt and an error by Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks, he refused the offer to wear a jacket on the bases. Pitchers usually wear the jacket to keep their arm warm. Hamels didn't see the need for it, and when he waved off the batboy with jacket in hand, I think he probably provided fodder for the folks at one of my all-time favorite Web sites,
colehamelsfacts.com.

Meanwhile, another defensive miscue by the Brewers has led to a 2-0 Phillies lead. With two on and two out, center fielder Mike Cameron broke in on Chase Utley's line drive. As the ball took off, Cameron quickly retreated. The ball went off his glove, allowing Carlos Ruiz and Hamels to score as Utley cruised into second base with a two-run double. Gallardo has seemingly lost his control. After walking Ryan Howard intentionally, he walked Pat Burrell and Shane Victorino, forcing home a run. There's already action in the Brewers' bullpen, but Cameron broke correctly on Pedro Feliz's fly ball to end the inning and leave the bases loaded.

3-0 Phillies, end 3
