Oct. 1 -- NO NO-NO

By KEVIN NOONAN

At least it wasn't cheap.

The Brewers' first hit, that is. Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels hadn't allowed any hits -- or any baserunners at all, for that matter -- through 4 2/3 innings. And even though nobody said anything, everybody knew history could have been in the making.

But the Brewers' Rodney Hart took care of that in decisive fashion. With two outs in the fifth, he laced a line drive single to right field. The fans, who obviously knew what was going on, gave Hamels a nice round of applause.

And then Hamels went back to work and struck out Rickie Weeks for the final out to preserve the Phillies' 3-0 lead.

Rodney Hart? Who the heck is Rodney Hart? Is he any relation to the Willie McGee that Tug McGraw struck out in 1980?
