April 3 -- HAPP, TASCHNER WIN JOBS; SHEFF TO METS

BY SCOTT LAUBER

Ruben Amaro Jr. has just announced that left-handers J.A. Happ and Jack Taschner have secured the last two spots in the bullpen. Happ, 26, posted a 3.97 ERA in seven Grapefruit League games, while Taschner was acquired last week from the Giants for catcher Ronny Paulino.

Right-hander Gary Majewski, who had a strong spring, will be assigned to triple-A Lehigh Valley after tomorrow's exhibition against the Rays.

So, barring a last-minute deal, the roster is set.

Starters (5): Joe Blanton, Cole Hamels, Jamie Moyer, Brett Myers, Chan Ho Park.
Relievers (7): Clay Condrey, Chad Durbin, Scott Eyre, Happ, Brad Lidge, Ryan Madson, Taschner.
Catchers (2): Chris Coste, Carlos Ruiz.
Infielders (7): Eric Bruntlett, Miguel Cairo, Greg Dobbs, Pedro Feliz, Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley.
Outfielders (4): Raul Ibanez, Matt Stairs, Shane Victorino, Jayson Werth.

Also, Gary Sheffield has signed with the Mets. According to some people I've spoken to today, the Mets were willing to promise more playing time in the outfield than the Phillies. The Mets' corner outfield situation (a Daniel Murphy/Fernando Tatis platoon in left field, Ryan Church in right) wasn't nearly as set as the Phillies with Ibanez and Werth.

More later.
