Mar. 14 -- GOLSON GETTING IT?

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- So, you've heard a lot this spring about the Phillies' pitching prospects, namely Joe Savery, Carlos Carrasco and Josh Outman. But what about the young position players?

Well, Charlie Manuel has paid rapt attention to 22-year-old center fielder Greg Golson, who went 2-for-4 with a double last night to leave his Grapefruit League average at .500 (6-for-12). Golson has boundless athletic ability, but it seems like every organization always has a superior athlete whose physical skills, for whatever reason, don't translate into baseball success.

Spoke to Golson and Manuel before the game in Sarasota, and it seems they have a plan to unlock Golson's offensive potential. The Phillies certainly hope it's an effective plan.

More on Kris Benson's minor-league outing here.

Francisco Rosario gets the start today against the Braves at Bright House. We'll keep a close eye on Rosario for you. He's had a strong spring, so far, and may pitch his way into the No. 5 starter situation. Otherwise, he's positioning himself to win a bullpen job. Tim Hudson is starting today for Atlanta. Braves lineup, by the way, includes Jeff Francoeur and Brian McCann, but not Chipper Jones or Mark Teixeira. Kyle Kendrick, meanwhile, will work in a minor-league game on the other side of the complex.

In case you missed it, here's video of Billy Crystal's at-bat yesterday for the Yankees, courtesy of the YES Network and YouTube. Imagine the ribbing Pirates lefty Paul Maholm would've gotten if he'd walked Crystal. If the Phils could sign one celebrity for a day, who would you want them to sign?
