June 2 -- BENSON SCRATCHED; GRIFFEY, TOO

So, Ken Griffey Jr. isn't in the Reds' lineup tonight because of "general soreness" (not to be confused with Major Pain or Private Discomfort). Unless he pinch-hits, No. 600 will have to wait.

But, the bigger news is that Kris Benson has been scratched from his scheduled start tonight for Class A Clearwater. The reason: Discomfort in his right biceps. Benson, you'll recall, had biceps tendinitis late in spring training. We'll try to get more info for you in a bit.

(Update, 5:39 p.m.): According to assistant GM Ruben Amaro Jr., the Phillies don't think this setback is as serious as the biceps problem Benson had in March. "It's a concern enough for him not to pitch," Amaro said. "He tested it this morning and didn't feel comfortable posting up. We'd like to have him be able to pitch consistently and be healthy. We need to get him back on the mound so we can evaluate him to see if he can help us in the big leagues." Asked if the Phillies believe Benson can help them, Amaro said, "We don't know. We're not sure."

Tonight's lineup against Reds RHP Bronson Arroyo (4-4, 5.29 ERA): SS Jimmy Rollins (.292/3/18), CF Shane Victorino (.292/2/14), 2B Chase Utley (.312/20/50), 1B Ryan Howard (.208/15/43), LF Pat Burrell (.280/13/38), RF Geoff Jenkins (.285/5/16), 3B Pedro Feliz (.259/7/28), C Chris Coste (.330/5/16), RHP Kyle Kendrick (4-2, 4.84).

Finally, the Phillies have activated Chris Snelling from the disabled list and reassigned T.J. Bohn to Class AAA Lehigh Valley. The reason: They wanted another left-handed bat on the bench against the Reds, who are using four right-handed starters this week.
