June 7 -- VICTORINO VS. ... BIG BROWN?

ATLANTA -- Like most of us, Charlie Manuel picked Big Brown to win the Belmont Stakes today.

But if Shane Victorino was in the race, he would've picked him.

Especially after seeing Victorino gallop home from first base in the eighth inning here tonight. Chase Utley stroked a ball down the right-field line into the corner. Victorino, with his back to the play, kept running and running, like Forrest Gump, until he reached the plate and scored the go-ahead run in an eventual 6-2 Phillies win that sets up a potential series sweep Sunday.

"Shane might've outran Big Brown today," Manuel cracked after winning his 300th game as Phillies manager.

Added Jimmy Rollins, "I don't know about a mile-and-a-half, but in short sprints, yeah, Shane definitely gets him."
