BY SCOTT LAUBER
Greetings from the Bank. Let's get right to it:
1. A few lineup changes for the Phillies and one notable non-change: With CC Sabathia on the mound, Shane Victorino has been moved into the No. 2 spot, while slumping Jayson Werth has been dropped to No. 6. Werth went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts yesterday and finished the season in a 5-for-35 funk. Meanwhile, Carlos Ruiz remains in the lineup, even with Brett Myers on the mound. Chris Coste has been Myers' catcher for most of the season, but Coste is 3-for-32 since Aug. 29.
Here's the full lineup:
SS Jimmy Rollins
CF Shane Victorino
2B Chase Utley
1B Ryan Howard
LF Pat Burrell
RF Jayson Werth
3B Pedro Feliz
C Carlos Ruiz
RHP Brett Myers
And for the Brewers:
CF Mike Cameron
2B Ray Durham
LF Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
SS J.J. Hardy
CF Corey Hart
3B Craig Counsell
C Jason Kendall
LHP CC Sabathia
2. If Werth continues to slump, Manuel said that he'll consider starting lefty-swinging Matt Stairs or Geoff Jenkins in Game 3 against right-hander Dave Bush or Game 4 against right-hander Jeff Suppan.
3. Manuel's advice for hitting Sabathia: "He's a competitor. He's going to get the ball, and he's going to mostly come right at us. And he's not afraid, definitely he's not afraid of things. And he'll control his emotions and everything, and he'll be focused on what he's doing. But we're going to get balls to hit. And it's kind of up to us to make sure we get some runs on him. He's got a tremendous feel for pitching. He's got a changeup and a slider, and he can bury a slider in on righties, and when he wants to, he can reach up and get a 95, 96, with something on it. He's very much in control of himself. But, like I said, we'll get balls to hit."
4. Pat Burrell said his back is feeling much better today. Asked if he ever was concerned that he wouldn't be able to play yesterday, he said, "I wouldn't have taken the field if I thought in any way I would jeopardize the team and the position we're in because, ultimately, that's the most important thing. Do I want to play? Of course, especially now, going through the whole year and everything else. But the most important thing is the team, and you can't be selfish there and make something personal more important than the team. We talked about that, and I told [Charlie] I wouldn't go out there if I didn't think I could help."
