Aug. 1 -- SEANEZ TO THE DL

ST. LOUIS -- Quick postgame update: The Phillies placed reliever Rudy Seanez on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation and purchased the contract of 31-year-old lefty Les Walrond from Class AAA Lehigh Valley.

Seanez has a 7.88 ERA in his last nine appearances. Manuel said he may have injured his shoulder in the ninth inning Thursday night when he fell while tagging the Nationals' Lastings Milledge. Seanez was unavailable for comment, so we'll try to speak to him tomorrow.

Walrond was 5-7 with a 2.61 ERA in 17 starts for Lehigh Valley. He struck out 17 batters July 6 against Louisville. Walrond has appeared in 17 major-league games, most recently with the Cubs in 2006.
