Aug. 14 -- ROLLINS' CLARIFICATION

BY SCOTT LAUBER

So, as expected, Jimmy Rollins spoke by phone today with the hosts of Fox Sports Net's "Best Damn Sports Show Period" and elaborated on his comments from yesterday's show that Philly sports fans are "front-runners." Rollins didn't offer an apology. In his mind, he didn't say anything that is untrue. But he did explain his comments in greater detail.

Here's the interview with Chris Rose and John Salley:

And yes, I am offended

yes, Philly fans are going to be offended because THEY are the only ones allowed to be critical.....if anyone criticizes them for being critical, then they will react and overreact

why do you think every other city in the US laughs at them?

for clarification, the second matts listed on this blog was not me.

this all just reminds me of fake outrage. this doesn't matter. obviously northeastern fans are quicker to jump on players than midwestern fans on average, but people really do overanalyze the effect of these things on player psychology. just because you can guess how you would feel in their situation, that doesn't mean you know how a profssional feels. i think most of these guys can shake it off pretty easily.
