LOS ANGELES -- Charlie Manuel did not address the media today. That, we're told, will happen tomorrow before Game 3. But GM Pat Gillick briefed us on the funeral plans for Manuel's mom, June, who passed away Friday morning.
According to Gillick, the Phillies will provide a private plane for Manuel to fly from L.A. to Roanoke, Va., after Game 5 Wednesday night. There will be a viewing Thursday in Buena Vista, Va. The funeral will be Friday morning. If the Phillies and Dodgers are playing a Game 6 on Friday night, Manuel will fly back to Philadelphia to manage that game.
Gillick said funeral plans haven't been made for Shane Victorino's grandmother, Irene, who passed away Friday, but Victorino won't miss any games. Victorino did address reporters, and we'll have that for you in Sunday's News Journal.
