Oct. 18 -- ROTATION UNCHANGED; HOWARD TO PLAY 1ST

BY SCOTT LAUBER

So, as I sit here in the press box at the Bank, the Phils are playing a six-inning simulated game. It's Jamie Moyer vs. Joe Blanton. Exciting stuff. There is, however, some news from Charlie Manuel, who rejoined the team today after attending his mother's funeral yesterday in Buena Vista, Va.

1. The starting rotation will remain unchanged for the World Series. That means Cole Hamels in Game 1, Brett Myers in Game 2 (on the road), Moyer in Game 3 and Blanton in Game 4.

2. Ryan Howard will play first base in the AL city, so the DH will be somebody else. There's probably a chance Pat Burrell may DH, but Greg Dobbs is another option.

Chad Durbin remembers when the Tigers had a week-long layoff in 2006 and lost in the World Series. To Durbin, though,
the loss had nothing to do with the layoff. As Martin Frank writes, most of the Phillies have never experienced a World Series. Within the notebook, the Phillies don't care if they play Tampa or Boston. Want World Series tickets? Be prepared to pay.

Hey Slauber, who would give the Phillies the tougher challenge: the Ray's Scott Kazmir, a guy who was accused of having a "dead" arm, or the Bosox's Gil Valezquez, the heavy-hitting infielder,
