Mar. 14 -- UTLEY PLAYS IN MINOR-LEAGUE GAME

BY SCOTT LAUBER

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Got this e-mail from colleague Chuck Gormley while sitting on a Southwest Airlines jet that was cruising at about 30,000 feet. Now that I'm on terra firma, and back in Clearwater, I'm passing it along to you ...

From Ruben Amaro, Jr. in Kissimmee: Chase Utley made his spring-training debut today at the Carpenter Complex, playing four innings and going 2-for-4 with a ground-rule double in an intrasquad game. Amaro said Utley was "tired, but it was a good workout for him." Amaro said Utley will not be rushed into a Grapefruit League game, which means he might wait a day or two before returning to the Phillies' lineup.

More later.
