CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Morning, all. TGIF!
I'll be spending most of the morning in my car, driving to Kissimmee for Phillies-Astros. So, we'll keep this post relatively short. First, a few links: In today's News Journal, Chase Utley told me he's ready to start the season, although his home-run swing in the first inning yesterday could've spoken for itself. Also, in the notebook, Charlie Manuel is a critic of Ronny Paulino, Cole Hamels' bullpen session went well, Kyle Kendrick's minor-league re-debut did not, and a few other nuggets.
Because our last reader poll generated great response, I wanted to throw out another. Please check it out below, and vote early and often.

I voted for Happ but what are the chances that we head in with a 6man rotation?
Paul W.: Great question, but there's absolutely zero chance. If anything, the Phillies will start with a four-man rotation because of the three days off in the season's first eight days. If my counting is correct, they won't absolutely need a No. 5 starter until April 20.
Impending meltdown in the bullpen if they start the season with Eyre being the only lefty. Ultimately I think that Happ should be a starter but right now I think that Park has really worked during the offseason and spring to be #5. Not that Happ hasn't, I just think the Romero suspension makes it infeasible for a pen without 2 lefties.

Even though he's not a lefty, I have felt all along that the Phils signed Park partly to take the innings Romero normally would during the first one-third of the season.
We don't really know if Happ can work in relief. And if the Phillies really needed another lefty that badly, they could always part with another $1 million and sign someone like Will Ohman.
